Itinerary
Petagus - Crew
10.30
Departure from the port of Palau

Our journey begins at the port of Palau, a mythical place for all Sardinians. History tells us that Admiral Nelson also docked here and stayed from 1 November 1803 to 11 January 1805 before setting sail again aboard the Victory and accompanied by the thirteen ships of his retinue.

Boat Trips La Maddalena - Spargi
Stop for a swim at Spargi

First stop on our journey is the beach of Cala Corsara at the island of Spargi.

What is striking about the island of Spargi is its rounded shape, which offers a wild and unspoilt nature to the eye.

Already in the distance you can admire the unspoilt vegetation, which especially in the hinterland becomes dense Mediterranean scrub.
Wind-sculpted granite cliffs stand out on the coast.

Amidst the jagged rocks, visitors recognise the action of the wind, which as a skilled stonemason has reproduced the physiognomy of a dog, a witch, a Dutch clog, the outline of the Italian peninsula and even that of Elvis that fascinate observers and trigger the imagination.

The island of Spargi is the ideal place for sports enthusiasts. In fact, snorkelling is very popular, but it also presents the ideal landscape to linger and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Gite-In-Boat-Beach-Rosa-Budelli
Pink beach

On the island of Budelli we can admire the  pink beach which is one of the most important and well-known symbols of the La Maddalena Archipelago.
In the early 1960s, Michelangelo Antonioni shot the film Deserto Rosso starring Monica Vitti in this unspoilt area.

Boat Trips La Maddalena - Santa Maria Island Stage
Stop for a swim Isola Santa Maria

The second stop is scheduled on the island of Santa Maria. The excursion cannot do without this stop: the purity of the light, the crystal-clear sea and the white beaches will captivate you.

The beach of the same name, named after the Benedictine convent built on the small island, welcomes travellers seeking relaxation and distraction.

Boat Trips La Maddalena Petagus - Diving from the Boat
Stop for a swim at the Natural Pools

The tour continues with a stop at the Natural Pools. A swim in the Natural Pools of the La Maddalena National Park refreshes body and soul and replenishes energy reserves.

These natural pools are located on the island of Budelli and are truly known and renowned throughout the world.

Palau Boat Trips
Navigation

Leaving the Piscine Naturali we will sail towards La Maddalena. We will sail past Cala d'Inferno, the Fishermen's Church built by Uncle Giacomo Scotto devoted to the Virgin Mary for saving him from several shipwrecks.

We shall see French Cove, the island's most important granite quarry that employed more than 400 stonemasons and contributed to the socio-economic development of the island so much so that in the early 19th century La Maddalena was known as Little Paris.

Finally, we arrive in the characteristic old town in Cala Gavettasettlement chosen by the first inhabitants, the Corsican shepherds, as it was more sheltered from the prevailing 'mistral' wind.

La Maddalena Town Centre Walk
Stop at La Maddalena

Shopping stop in the historic centre of La Maddalena. A bit of history... On 23 February 1723, Napoleon sought to annex the Archipelago to France as it had always been considered militarily strategic.

Miraculous was the island's defence, which, with far fewer and better equipped men, succeeded in making the French desist. For this reason, a young islander, Domenico Millelire, at the head of the island garrison was awarded the 1st Military Valour Medal of the Royal Sardinian Navy.

Boat Trips Santo Stefano Maddalena
Sailing towards Palau

Sailing back to port in Palau. Leaving the historic centre we will sail along theSt. Stephen's Islandthe islet of Fear with the monument in memory of the battleship Roma.

Just before returning to port, Aeolus surprises us again with the most beautiful rock in Gallura, the symbol of Palau and a national monument: the Bear Rock. Don't miss the incredible sunset at its feet!

La Maddalena Archipelago National Park

A natural paradise that enchants visitors from all over the world

La Maddalena Archipelago

Established in 1994, the La Maddalena Archipelago National Park is one of the most important marine protected areas in the Mediterranean. With over 60 islands, islets and reefs, the park offers breathtaking landscapes with crystal-clear waters, white beaches and unspoilt nature. Its history is rich in events and legends. From antiquity through foreign domination to the present day, these islands have seen a succession of different eras and cultures, leaving an indelible mark on their historical and artistic heritage. Let us discover together the seven largest islands of the archipelago.

1. La Maddalena

The main island, home to the municipality of the same name, is a lively and dynamic centre, full of marinas, charming shops and restaurants. One of the gems of the Mediterranean, La Maddalena is famous not only for its natural beauty but also for its military history, having played a crucial and important role throughout history. Today, thanks to its extraordinary landscapes and unique atmosphere, it is considered a strategic point for exploring the surrounding archipelago, one of the most fascinating destinations for lovers of nature and truly unique landscapes.

2. Caprera

Closely linked to the historical figure of Giuseppe Garibaldi, Caprera is not only his last resting place but also a place of great symbolic significance for Italian history. The island houses a museum dedicated to the life, deeds and ideals of the hero of two worlds who played a fundamental role in the unification of Italy. Caprera offers breathtaking views of crystal-clear waters and enchanting natural landscapes. Garibaldi's tomb offers an opportunity for reflection, allowing visitors to pay homage and remember the legacy of this great patriot.

3. Spargi

A wild and truly unspoilt island, perfect for those seeking tranquillity and nature in a breathtaking setting. Spargi is famous not only for its beautiful beaches, such as Cala Corsara, Cala Soraya, Cala Conneri and Cala Granara, but also for its serene and relaxing atmosphere that attracts visitors from all over the world. These enchanting places offer a unique experience, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, where it is always possible to immerse oneself in the beauty of nature and enjoy moments of pure serenity in the company of friends and family.

4. St. Stephen

This elongated island, characterised by sheer granite cliffs and hidden coves, offers breathtaking views and a rich and diverse marine ecosystem. Santo Stefano, located in the La Maddalena Archipelago, is one of the most evocative and fascinating islands in the entire archipelago, making it an ideal destination for snorkelling and water adventure enthusiasts. This enchanting place invites you to explore its crystal-clear waters and discover the beauty of underwater life, promising unforgettable experiences for all who set foot there.

5. Budelli

World-famous for its incredible and unique pink beach, Budelli is truly a marvellous island. This natural wonder with its uniquely coloured sand attracts visitors from all corners of the globe every year. However, to preserve its beauty and ecological integrity, it is not possible to directly access all its beaches. Fortunately, it is possible to admire the island during a fascinating boat tour that offers breathtaking views and panoramas. In this way, one has the opportunity to appreciate its extraordinary uniqueness.

6. Razzoli

Razzoli of the 7 islands is the furthest from the coast. This small island of unquestionable charm is characterised by its lush vegetation and extraordinarily diverse fauna, which makes it unique. Razzoli is not only a place of natural beauty, it is also a true paradise for nature watchers, where a wide variety of colourful fish and fascinating seabirds can be admired in their natural habitat. Photography and nature lovers will find an unforgettable experience here.

7. St Mary's

A small, pretty, flat island covered in lush Mediterranean scrub and fragrant junipers, Santa Maria is a true piece of paradise. Famous for its quiet coves, it appeals to those seeking peace and relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The crystal-clear waters, so clear they seem like silk, are perfect not only for bathing but also for swimming, snorkelling and discovering marine life. This enchanting place invites you to relax, enjoy the beauty of nature and immerse yourself in an atmosphere of serenity.
